I strongly believe that Ubuntu is one of the best Linux distributions especially for people who just take their first steps towards Linux. It doesn’t mean that I consider other Linux distributions are not as brilliant as they really are but it means that I recommend Ubuntu as the first step when moving from Windows, MAC OS X or whatever other operating system.
Anyways here you will find tips and howto which are workable not only in Ubuntu but also in other Linux distributions. First of all it concerns Debian and related distros. As we all know Ubuntu was built on Debian’s code base so many applications, configuring approaches and tips are applicable to both Ubuntu and Debian. Coming to such distros as RedHat, Centos, Fedora, Mandriva, Suse, Archlinux and other — Ubuntuka’s stuff published here is applicable for these distros partially. For example howto iTunes in Ubuntu Linux was written for Ubuntu users but still contains all known approaches to run iTunes in Linux so it’s possible to convert steps shown there for other Linux distro and get the same results.
Why Ubuntuka?
The answer is easy. My name is Kate so I just took the first two letters of my name and added them to the end of name of my favorite operating system: Ubuntu + Kate = Ubuntuka.
